A new Blogger and new bloggers

For all people who use Blogger.com to blog, there's some big news for all of you: Blogger is changing. One of the biggest changes is that instead of having an account on Blogger, you will use a Google account to login. (If you have a Gmail account, then you are already all set.) The second biggest thing is that Blogger will be adding labels for categories. This way, if I label all my Glu-Glu stories under "Fiction", you just have to search for the Fiction tag on the sidebar, click it, and you'll see all post that were labeled under fiction.

Blogger will also make it easier to customize and organize your layout. Also, when an author publishes a new post or edits the template, there will be NO MORE WAIT TIME. That's right, the post will be updated instantaneously. Say goodbye to waiting for files to be published! You can read more about the new features available in the Beta version by reading the FAQ here. (Note: The new Blogger will have a new spellchecker, similar to the one that's used in Gmail. For Blogger authors, this is great news, as the current spellchecker, well, sucks.)

NOTE: Currently, switching to the Beta version is completely voluntary. (Although you can't switch back.) However, in a "few months," once the full version is rolled out, e-mails will be sent insisting that everyone switch to the new Blogger.

While we anticipate the new Blogger with a curious mind, we want to welcome new bloggers into the billions-wide blogosphere. First up is Loretta who is coming off a one-year sabbatical from regular blogging and makes her comeback in the boring exciting blog, "i just had to do it to keep up with everyone", or, IJHTDITKUWE for short. Secondly, we want to welcome Steve and Janna's joint blog, Life on Union Ave 2. May your blogs be constantly updated and read regularly.

  1. They're offering conversion already? Earlier this week all you could do is start a new blog with the new stuff. Sweet.
