Time off for fainting?

I caught the tail end of a celebrity-based television magazine, where the hosts made mention of how brave Marie Osmond was to appear on TV just one night after she fainted. What are you supposed to do after you faint, take a week off? I know a few hours of rest is prudent and generally recommended, but I'm pretty sure a day later you can do whatever it was you were doing before.
