It's not every day someone's writing is featured prominately on a website. Okay, actually, it happens every day to hundreds of Americans over thousands upon thousands of websites. Some are mainstream, some are more fringe sites. At any rate, not everybody can have their blog posts featured. Ah, my dear readers, here's where I come in with the exception.
On TVGuide.com, they have a rather large emphasis on online community (ie., blogging and commenting on posts and news articles). I have an account, but so far have only used it to write comments on the blogs written by the big TVGuide honchos. (Such as a lengthy comment I recently wrote on John Hein's blog, talking about Lost. To my surprise, people repeatedly complimented what I wrote. Thanks, guys! I wuv you, and I wuv the Jump-The-Shark guy, too. But I love Lost more.)
So the other night, while watching another "controversial" episode of House, an idea for a blog post struck me. But then I thought, "Epsilon is becoming too much of a TV blog nowadays," so I decided I'd try out my blog on TVGuide.com, called Bemusings. (I'm sure that title is taken elsewhere on the internet. If so, I'm deeply sorry.) And while thinking of a title, I couldn't think of any better term to describe the character of Gregory House than that of a donkey. So my first "off-site" blog post is called: "House is an ass - get used to it". (It's not an entirely original article, to be sure, but it was fun to write. And I've gotten 5 comments on it, too! That's like a huge ego boost.) That was done late Tuesday night.
Wednesday morning I log on and check out the front page for the Community Blogs, only to find out that my post was part of the "Featured Posts" section on the top of the page. Not only that, but my post is at the top of the page! I feel honored to get 15 seconds of semi-reckognition on a popular website. Thanks, TVGuide, for the ego boost! I continue to love you so.
