This is a unique semester for me. Assuming all goes well, after this semester of school I will have completed the MACRAO requirements. Meaning? Pretty much for a majority of colleges across Michigan, with very few exceptions or limitations, I've satisfied all the General Education requirements for the school. I've been working off the MACRAO worksheet ever since I started at Grand Rapids Community College. And I'll still be at GRCC, but working towards fulfilling other requirements for Grand Valley State University for both my Journalism and Communications degrees. (Yeah, my current plan is to double-major. But I change my mind so often, we'll see.)
So I know I have more schooling to go. A lot more. But I won't have the MACRAO to worry about. And that just seems like a small victory. (It kinda is, but kind of isn't.) So I feel like it's ending. However, it's not. So it's kind of confusing.
One more year then I'll graduate from GRCC with my Associate in Arts degree. (Technically, I'll just need one more semester, but it's less paperwork waiting a semester to audit.) With that, I'll have a pretty good, solid foundation for continued higher learning. Even if, for some reason, I drop out of school (new job opportunity, money situation, emergency, intelligence failure), if I get the AA, I'll be very content. So how messed up is that? I'm working towards two Bachelor degree's and I really only truly care about getting my Associate in Arts degree.
BTW - First Aid class can be kind of scary. Caring for bleeding? Dislocated bones? If anything, this helped me to realize I won't be switching over to enter the medical field. Gah-rross!! Biology is gross, too. This week in lab we had to take some flatworms and cut them up and for the next two weeks we'll monitor how they regenerate into new, complete worms. Except for one worm, which we kind of just cut it's head in half, so it'll be a two-headed freak. (The teacher even told us that we could do that!) I'll be more than happy to leave the field of science behind...
The big surprise of the semester? How much I'm liking the Public Speaking class. I don't giving a speech, but I do really good. And a few weeks ago I gave a informative speech about the history of April Fool's Day and I had many students come up to me and tell me that they loved the speech. I love them all for it!!
And then there's Spanish. Um, yeah. That's all I'll say about that.
