Pushing flowering tunes

I recently bought a "fake soundtrack" on iTunes. It's a type of album that sounds like it could be a movie soundtrack, but it's not attached to anything; it's just music. It's fairly good, and I like it a lot. (I bought it and the memorable theme from Tin Man, which I love so much more than the series itself, no lie.) However, something struck me as odd about the album.

While listening to it, I heard one track close out in a very frantic way, with a particular combination of instruments that sounded a lot like the end of an episode of TV's Pushing Daisies. (You can already see how this story ends, can't you?) I listened to more and more of the album and could picture more and more tracks being akin to something that could play in Pushing Daisies. Even a few dramatic pieces seemed to have a touch of whimsy in them.

This particular artist, James Dooley, only had one or two other albums up on iTunes. "An unknown," I thought. I did a web search and as it turns out, James Dooley also is an accomplished composer and conductor - and he does the music for Pushing Daisies!

So now whenever I find myself missing Pushing Daisies, I can just put on the soundtrack and imagine some insane, ridiculous plot twist (Emerson is a ghost? Olive is Ned's mom re-incarnated?) that, if were in the show, would not only be believable but also so CUTE.

Anyways, that's all I really had to share.

UPDATE: The name of the album is: "Position Music - Orchestral Series Volume 2" Thanks to "anonymous" for reminding me to put the title in.

  2. Doh! Yes, indeed it was Position Music - Orchestral Series Volume 2. And for as many tracks as you get, buying the album for $9.99 is quite a steal!
