Deer, we almost got hit!

I was driving along the other day with John in the passenger seat, heading down 56th street in Wyoming. It was a little after six o'clock, and in winter, six means that it is pitch black outside. Completely. And 56th street, right when you get on from Wilson Ave., is kind of a hilly, bumpy road. So I'm driving along this dark, hilly, bumpy road, not able to see too much in front of me (I don't use brights in a residential neighborhood), when all of a sudden, I see a deer trotting across the road, to my left. If I had been going a little faster by say, 5, 10 seconds, I would have been hit by the deer. Instead, I saw it running along, and I thought to myself, huh. And, that was pretty much it.
