Random Thoughts #745: Condiments and "Lost"

  • I came across this "Table of Condiments That Periodically Go Bad." It's kind of funny. And, if it were actually scientific (which it's not), it could even be very invaluable.
  • It would be pretty funny to start a fake gossip news blog, pretending to unearth "exclusive" information from popular TV shows. Like, you could have a huge spread devoted to the scandalous rumor that 24's Logan was part of the terrorist plot, then post quotes from various fictional officials shooting that rumor down as complete nonsense... It's be pretty fun.
  • I saw some Lost fan on a message board point out that Kelvin told Desmond about some "hostiles" as well. Perhaps Mikhail wasn't lying and there are actually some "other Others," as have been long rumored?
  • Also related to Lost, I like how Ben seemed to be working to get Locke to believe in the island again. The show is at it's best when it's dealing with the "science versus faith" issues. Hopefully, we'll get more of that again.
  • I downloaded some tracks from AmericanIdol.com's download store. I got Blake Lewis' spooky-groovy remix of Time of the Seasons. The studio recording isn't as spooky, though. Oh well. It's still really good. And these are full-length recordings, too, not just a minute and a half like you get on the TV.
  • On an Idol note, here's some album numbers, from Soundscan, courtesy of MJ's Big Blog:
Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts: 5,078,294 albums sold
Chris Daughtry's Daughtry: 1,963,106
Dreamgirls Soundtrack: 904,858
Taylor Hick's Taylor Hicks: 657,554
Kellie Pickler's Small Town Girl: 471,134
Fantasia's Fantasia: 323,432
Katharine McPhee's Katharine McPhee: 258,339
(Daughtry has sold about a million more albums than Kat McPhee and Taylor Hicks combined.)

  1. Chuck, I fear your theory about the Ace Young factor, while a sound idea, may not apply to Sanjaya. That ponytail mohawk was SO appalling that people will vote him back to see what horrible thing he'll do next.
